Surfing in Portugal

07 February 2013

picture of David and me
Do you see those cliffs? That pretty mist? And the stunningly blue ocean? I don't think it's possible to not have a total blast in any situation involving all three of those things. Even if you are drinking your weight in seawater, paddling around the biggest waves you've ever experienced firsthand (you know, like in the water), and confident that your muscles are just going to fall off and die of exhaustion at any moment. I think what I really mean by surfing is just flailing around in the ocean with a giant yellow thing attached to my ankle. But there was that one time I caught the tiniest of waves and stood up for an impressive 2.47 seconds (give or take a little). And that, my friends, was the best.

That describes surfing to a T! Very impressed by your 2 minutes of surfing glory. You beat my 0.5 second record! Looks like you had lots of fun. How did you deal with the fact that you must have been STARVING after all that? :]

I've never surfed but I DO know that the times in my life when I have felt most alive than I have ever felt where when I was in the Ocean.

Beautiful pictures, I'm sure it was exhilirating ^.^

Oh this looks soooo much fun. My boyfriend is really good at wind surfing, whereas I really suck at it, I can't even stand on the surf. :)

You're so freaking cute. With that boatmaker. I'm so jealous of this adventure. And even further convinced that I need to be in Europe. Like yesterday.
