ladies of the mountains // bringing the outside in

31 January 2013

I try to incorporate the great outdoors into all aspects of my life, including my home. I find it so very refreshing to be reminded of my snowy mountains and fresh meadows, even if it means simple things like dishes and chairs. Here are a few things I use to bring the outdoors in..
Natural wood // It always looks classy and absolutely beautiful. If you feel that big furniture pieces are too much wood, try incorporating it into little things like placemats or picture frames.

An herb garden // There's nothing more wonderful than cooking with fresh herbs. And I think that they just add something so special and cozy to the kitchen window.

Fresh flowers // You can truly never go wrong with a bouquet of fresh flowers. There's just something so refreshing and wonderful about having them around.

Outdoor landscapes // When you're not able to make it outside for whatever reason, I think pictures of your favorite outdoor places are the next best thing. You can just daydream away..

White dishes // A few of my favorite things about the outdoors are puffy white clouds, powdery snow, and the Edelweiss Flower. White dishes remind me of these favorite things.. and all it takes is a piece of toast.

I tried the whole herb garden thing last year and FAILED miserably. I'm like you, I kill everything!

I'll have to give it another shot in the spring. Maybe 2013 will be a year of growth. :)

i love those dishes. and that chair. and everything in these pictures!! when decorating our apartment I tried to bring as much nature into our little cramped space with succulents and tons and tons of wood, and it made such a difference!!

I started my herb garden this year, oh and tomatoes, strawberries and a lemontree as well. All died when I was on vacation and we had several days of 38 degree weather here in Melbourne. Only the lemontree lives! I was so sad :) Well I will try it again!
Oh and I love the picture of the mountain landscape, so beautiful!

gorgeous. I love it. I feel like we all picked very similar things. :) Which, of course, makes sense. haha
